Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and having lived on four separate continents, Christina Tibbs has always associated the meaning of home to the soil beneath her feet. With ample access to the wonders of Mother Earth, she would venture out into the African bush as a child, collecting the various native plants that called to her and finding ways to incorporate them into her daily life. Whether it be a doll adorned in torn up leaves paired with a finishing touch of “dandelion fairy sprinkles” or simply a green pile of mush, Christina always felt it in her heart that she was meant to bring nature’s healing wisdom into her life and the lives of others.
In a world so disconnected from nature young Christina quickly found it hard to live true to her vibration, at times mimicking the actions of her peers in order to seek acceptance. Often setting her apart, Christina’s hyper-sensitive nature gravely impacted her ability to feel connected and present with those around her. Throughout her own journey towards self-acceptance she has come to embrace the very differences about herself that once felt like a prison. With adulthood fast approaching she knew the time had arrived to take her space in this world.
With the support of her family, Christina set out to search for a means of fulfilling the calling that always resided deeply within her. It was in New York, on a sunny day in 2018 that Christina and her mother walked into a herbal store. Upon exiting the building Christina knew that she had found her path forward and was now able to place a word to her very essence: “Herbalism”! Finally possessing the language to describe her path, Christina realized that she had not only been practicing herbalism her whole life, but had additionally grown up in a household where herbalism was the main modality of healing. Realizing all that she had taken for granted during her childhood, her journey began.
Christina enrolled as a student at Berkeley Herbal Center in 2018, completing two years of extensive education and getting her diplomas in Herbal Foundations and Therapeutics while gaining 900 hours training. She completed her third year at Vital Ways Institute in Portland, Oregon, where she gained a diploma as an Advanced Holistic Herbalist. She has since gone to serve clients within her own practice, formulating customized herbal medicinal blends that target individual medicinal needs as well as providing detailed treatment plans.
With the launch of Christina’s product line "SISAINE", she has entered the world as a product formulator and further continues her mission to incorporate Nature’s immense healing into the lives of others. All of SISAINE's products are formulated without any chemicals, preservatives, solvents or simply anything unrecognizable to the body. In place of using flavoring agents we opt for herbal infusions and instead of artificial scents, we use essential oils. From wild harvesting and distilling the plants to decorating each of the bottles individually, there is a deep love and intention behind each of our products and we hope that every little bit is felt.
Christina not only pays homage to her Swiss roots with the name of her product line, but also venerates the woman responsible for instilling in her the love of nature by naming the line “SISAINE”, which in French means… “So Healthy”. The name signifies the genesis of Christina’s journey as a healer, placing thanks in the hands responsible for paving her path forward.
